Glucose Test

I received a call on Thursday from my doctor's office that my glucose numbers were slightly higher than they would like to see. Ugh!! I was dreading this phone call. I didn't have any problems with this with Noah's pregnancy so I was hoping I'd get lucky again. I went in this morning at 8:30 so I could get this over with. I hadn't eaten since 8:00 Wednesday evening and I normally would have eaten two small meals by the time this thing is supposed to be over with. Anyway, I figured I would go in at 8:30 , drink the stuff, make a return at Kohls, pick up a few things at Sprouts, and head back at 9:30am for my first draw. I would then head home, unload my groceries, have my mom and Noah meet me there and put Noah down for his nap (my mom would stay with him), then head back at 10:30 for my next draw. After the 10:30 draw, I would head to Walmart to pick up a few things and then go back at 11:30 for my last draw. This is not what happened. I sat down in the waiting room along with another girl who was there for her three hour. She had her fasting draw done first and then downed her drink while I had my fasting draw taken. The lobotomist (?) proceeds to tell me that for safety reasons, I can't drive and that I need to stay there for the duration of the test. Everything inside of me sunk. I hadn't brought anything to keep me busy and I was looking forward to accomplishing a few things that had to get done this week anyway. The lobotomist left the office and the other three hour test girl went to the bathroom. I dashed out the door and drove to the dollar store to find something to entertain me for the next three hours (ended up being a word search). I called Jay and asked him if he could bring me my book and also a few bottles of water if he got a break sometime in his morning. I ended up parking in the front lot and sat in the car listening to the radio when "clunk" - some woman hits my car with her door. She says "whoops", smiles, apologizes, and runs into the office. I get out and check out the small scratch on the door hoping that when Jay comes he doesn't think it's a big deal. I then move the car and park in the back parking lot away from the majority of the cars. Jay calls about an hour into my wait when I remember Noah needs his pack and play dropped off at my mom's so he can take his morning nap. Of course, being the best husband in the world, none of this is too much to ask, and he takes care of it all. When he comes to my rescue, he even wastes a half hour talking to me to help pass time. He checks out the car door (not a big deal) and heads back to work. After probably 6 word searches and a couple phone calls I head back inside for my final draw before stopping at Sprouts to pick up a few groceries. As soon as I walk in, I start to feel really weak. I inhaled two slices of bread from my cart and didn't feel any better. I felt like I was overheating and was worried that I might pass out. It probably wasn't the smartest thing, but I finished shopping (I only needed ten things or so) and found my way back to my car to blow tons of cold air on me. I called my mom to tell her I was on my way to pick up Noah when she announced that she just finished making lunch for all of us. I was thrilled to see a huge spread on her counter when I walked in. She had baked fish, homemade french fries, and veggies waiting on a plate for me. Jay called a minute later and joined us for lunch too. It all hit the spot. I needed that meal like I had needed no meal before. I'm sorry to spill every detail but I needed to get it out. In the mean time, I'll be waiting for a call from my doctor or I'll probably find out my results on Thursday at my next appointment. Please keep me in your prayers!
