A Sleepy Baby

Nate was sent to the naughty bench in our bedroom. After his two minute timer went off, Jay went in to talk to him, but he was a little grumpy and not ready to discuss his behavior so Jay told him that whenever he was ready to talk, he could come and get us. After a while we began to wonder. I peeked in at one point and he was rolling around on the carpet content as anything. A little while after that, we took another look but couldn't find him. We then saw his knuckles popping out from behind our bed skirt. This is what was hiding behind it:

Treats!

This week I hosted our play group at my house - poolside. The heat has been, well, hot and a pool is always a fun place for the kids. I decided on a kid and adult-friendly treat that could possibly be considered somewhat healthy. These are chocolate covered frozen bananas. And may I say they turned out even better than I expected! I made an assortment of crushed Heath bar, crushed pretzels, s'mores, and sprinkles. I almost forgot to take a picture which is why there are so many missing from the tray. Yum!

Top Bunk

Noah's had a bunk bed since before Nate was around, but we didn't have a mattress on it until recently. Noah liked hanging from the bars (monkey hangers) and preferred a sheet to lay over it. In fact, I'm not sure if Noah even knew a mattress was supposed to be up there. We just decided to get the mattress and  wouldn't you know it was one of the best purchases we could have made. You see, Noah can have his big brother moments where he doesn't want his little brother in his room touching (breaking) his Lego creations or pulling every book off the shelf or stealing all of his stuffed animals or...or... you get the idea. But this mattress has changed all that. After Jay put electrical tape over the light on the smoke detector (another story), Noah moved to the top bunk. We told them that as a special privilege Nate could nap on the bottom bunk on the weekends. They thought this was great! Noah would work himself up - and Nate, not that he needed any help - and they would talk about what they would look at or listen for or talk about once it was time to lay down. After a couple naps, Noah began calling his bed "our bed" and "our room" and was SO MUCH more tolerant of Nate. Who would've thought that this mattress would make such a difference?

EVO Swim School is pleased to announce that Noah Erickson, age 4, has graduated from the Seal class level. He is now considered a proficient back yard swimmer with the ability to swim three widths of our pool (30 yards total) with a strong kick and great breath control. Noah can also jump from the side, get a breath on his back, and return to the side of the pool as a safety habit. He will be moving to the Sea Lion class to receive an introduction to the freestyle stroke with an emphasis placed on “big arms”. On behalf of Noah’s instructor, Patrick, and the entire EVO Swim School staff, we say…CONGRATULATIONS!

First Day of Pre-K

Noah has been so excited to start school again. We attended Meet the Teacher last week where we met his teacher, Ms. Jasey. She seems like she loves what she does and that makes it a little bit easier to let go (a little). I'm really trying to take every day one day at a time because if I look too far ahead I get a little teary. It's hard to put into words the mixed emotions that these milestones bring. In short, it's hard to believe we're already here.
